Projects/ Greenwich Village Multi-family Entry Lobby Renovation
In 2015 Marcello Ferri is hired to renovate the existing street level entry lobby of a building previously converted from manufacturing to multi-family residential, located one block away from iconic Union Square. The objective is to restore original lobby conditions with the removal of low ceilings and stair enclosure. After securing approval from the City the project is built on a moderate budget. Program includes all new finishes, lighting fixtures and restoration of original architectural features.
The original building's function was manufacturing, after the conversion to residential, the original stair and marble wall paneling were boxed out with partitions and low ceilings, creating a claustrophobic environment for building tenants and visitors. These conditions were cured by opening the space, reverting to original conditions. Selection of finishes has been carefully carried out during the design development stage with the use of visualization tools.
